Gary Bernhardt, says services, or service objects, are stateless objects with no data but behaviors associated with them.

Avdi said that they were a meaningless term (or something like that).

Like Avdi in podcast-giant-robots-39-avdi-grimm the guys think that the name is meaningless.

Service objects... the name is meaningless. One of the guys thinks that it should just be "objects". The other guy still puts them in the "services" directory, despite agreeing.

Service objects are procedural

• Do not store state
• use-instance-methods-not-class-methods
• There should be very-few-public-methods
• Method parameters should be value objects, either to be operated on or needed as input
• Methods should return a rich-result-object and not a boolean
• Dependent service objects should be accessible via private methods, and created either in the constructor or lazily
